Plant a Tree & Contribute to the Environment's Biodiversity - Part IV

Updated: Oct 3

Come hell or high water, nothing can stop the indefatigable spirit of a B-Force 568 Trooper.

From midnight to early dawn of September 1, Cebu City continued to experience heavy downpour.  At 0400H, chat messages abound asking if the tree-growing activity scheduled for that day will proceed.  Fortunately, at 0500H rain was reduced to trickles prompting the Founder/Chairman Kit Coronel to give the go signal to the troops.

First stop was at Sitio Mahayahay, Cambinocot, Cebu City where we arrived at 0750H. After an hour of discussion and finalization, the troops proceeded to Brgy. Babag I boundary of Brgy. Busay on a property owned by our Deputy Director for Legal Affairs, Fiscal (Ret.) Carmelita M. Terez.  There we planted Philippine native trees like Narra, Molave, Banaba, Kamagong & some Agar trees, amidst intermittent rains and very cold weather.

We also had the opportunity to meet with a neighbor who is a businessman-building contractor who owns around 11 ha. of land and he’s happy for us to do tree-planting on half of this property.  We agreed to get in touch with each other, plan and schedule it at some other time.

We thank the Cebu City Environment & Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) for providing us the tree seedlings, the Cebu City Police Office Advisory Group for Police Transformation & Development (CCPO-AGPTD) for its inspiration and support, and all Blasert Force 568 Troopers for their efforts and sacrifices in participating on today’s activity.

Until next time, our group continues the push for its environmental protection & conservation advocacy where one of its foci is the planting of native trees, cleaning and greening of our environment.
